My name is Mary McCartney-Jones, and I live in Jamestown, IN with my husband Mort. I have two grown children Katie and AJ. I studied art at the John Herron Art Institute for two years. I have been drawing and painting for over 48 years, and loving every minute of it.
My passion is art, I love being able to transform something that you would normally not think of into a work of art. Some of the things I do include portraits, murals, barn quilts, stage props and scenery, as well as painting on clothing, floors, mail boxes and home furnishings. I love having clients who have several ideas and photos from which we can choose from and create something for them that is special and unique.
I was commissioned by St. Vincent Hospital Stress Center to paint three murals. Those murals can be seen in the Stress Center where the children take classes. My portrait of former IU Chancellor, Herman B Wells, resides at the Herman B Wells Community Center at Lebanon High School. I teach children's art classes at the Sugar Creek Art Center in Thorntown, IN. A few of my pieces are at the Art Center.
“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way--things I had no words for.” Georgia O'Keeffe
